Branson Missouri and the rugged Ozark Mountains have been
attracting visitors for over a hundred years. As with many
classic American destinations its natural surroundings, the
beauty of the Ozark Mountains, was its original attraction.
With its excellent fishing and numerous outdoor recreations
it was clear from the start that Branson had the right foundation
from which to blossom into one of America’s hottest
family destinations.
Along with these natural surroundings, came the history
of the Ozarks. Stemming from the attraction of Ozark life
illustrated from the Harold Bell Wright novel, “The
Shepherd of the Hills.” Written in 1907, it has brought
millions interested in the lifestyle portrayed by the characters
within the pages. In 1959, the construction of Table Rock
Dam changed the future of the area. With the attraction of
new visitors by the thousands, the Mabe Brothers started
performing to these visitors on the newly created shores
of Lake Taneycomo, in what is known as Branson’s old
downtown district. Shortly there after, the Presley family
began its own performances to these visitors on a little
stretch of road that we now refer to as “the strip.”
Maintaining its small town atmosphere and keeping its tie
to the past rings true as you see virtually every art and
crafts imaginable displayed in the numerous shops about town.
Cherishing the 1800’s craftsmanship is yet another
charm that keeps visitors coming back again and again. Nowhere
can this be more evident than Silver Dollar City. With what
began as a tour through Marvel Cave, Silver Dollar City has
evolved into a complete theme park. Emphasis on theme, 1800’s
craftsmanship and way of life is displayed throughout the
park while successfully complimenting modern day thrills
with its many exciting rides.
As Branson continues to hold onto the past, its present
has a reputation all its own. Noted as the “Entertainment
Capital of the World,” Branson hosts more daily performances
than Las Vegas or Broadway. Many big names and up-and-coming
talents call Branson home offering a huge variety of entertainment
spanning the spectrum of interests. Whatever kind of music
you like, Branson has it. And it’s not all music, performances
include magic, live dramas, comedy and the list goes on and
on…
Only short a whale, a mouse and taking home sand in everything
you packed, Branson, Missouri is the complete vacation offering
more unique attractions and entertainment than any other
destination. Where else can you fish before breakfast, golf
until lunch, hike through a cave in the afternoon, then see
first class entertainment in the evening? The only disappointment
you’ll experience during your next Branson vacation
is going home.
